Welcome!

Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) works to advance health and wellness for the most vulnerable in San Diego and Imperial counties through collaborative funding, convening and advocacy.

We believe all people have a desire, and a basic human right, to be well.

We define wellness as a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual, economic, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Society, structural systems, community, neighborhood, and family are collectively responsible for creating an environment of health and wellness. Wellness is personal and is not the same for everyone.

Health equity exists only when people can attain their full health potential, regardless of resources, circumstance, skin color or identity. This potential can only be reached when we reduce – and ultimately eliminate –the disparities that adversely impact marginalized and under-resourced communities.

Our funding opportunities are as follows:

CLOSED 5:00 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2020

COMING EARLY 2021

2020-2021 Imperial County Mission Support – based  on the belief that trusting those closest to our constituents and providing core operating support for great organizations will best advance our mission specifically within Imperial County.

Responsive Funding—based on the belief that it is important to be responsive to time-sensitive community needs and opportunities. We provide responsive funding up to $25,000. Responsive funding requests may be submitted at any time.

Note: To be responsive within San Diego County, we redirected $400,000 to The San Diego Foundation’s COVID-19 Community Response Fund and No-Interest Loan Fund in April 2020.  If your organization has a Responsive request that is related to the impact of COVID-19, please submit applications using the following link:

Imperial County COVID-19 Response Fund Round 2—  In an effort to be responsive within Imperial County, The Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation (IVWF), in partnership with Alliance Healthcare Foundation and several other philanthropic partners launched the Imperial County COVID-19 Response Fund for nonprofit organizations that primarily serve Imperial County. Two rounds of funding have been processed. All available funds have been fully expended at this time. This grant is currently closed.

Philosophy:
It is the policy of the Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) to have a mechanism through which the Organization can respond in a timely manner to certain requests. This mechanism is the Responsive Grants process, and the types of requests that may be considered are defined below.  This policy is intended to be effective until amended and specifically until AHF appoints a new staff leader as Executive Director.
Criteria:
Responsive grant requests range up to $25,000 and may be one or more of the following:
  •    be time sensitive
  • allow AHF to participate in an important co-funding opportunity with other funders
  • provide AHF a novel funding opportunity
  • support leadership & organizational development
  • respond to a racial inequity
The total amount expended annually shall be established as part of the AHF Community Grants budget for the fiscal year. Regardless of size, all Responsive Grants shall be in mission alignment with AHF.
Being a previous AHF grantee does not preclude an organization from applying for our 2021 Responsive Grant.
To qualify for Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) 2021 Responsive Grant support, your organization must meet these criteria:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) or have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, and
  • Serve regions in San Diego County and/or Imperial County, and
  • Be aligned with AHF’s mission of advancing health and wellness for the most vulnerable in San Diego County and/or Imperial County, who often experience inequities and injustices in health and social outcomes.

Funding is provided throughout the year until grant budget is expended.
