Welcome from AHF and IVWF!

Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) works to advance health and wellness for the most vulnerable in San Diego and Imperial counties through collaborative funding, convening and advocacy.

We believe all people have a desire, and a basic human right, to be well.

We define wellness as a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual, economic, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Society, structural systems, community, neighborhood, and family are collectively responsible for creating an environment of health and wellness. Wellness is personal and is not the same for everyone.

Health equity exists only when people can attain their full health potential, regardless of resources, circumstance, skin color or identity. This potential can only be reached when we reduce – and ultimately eliminate –the disparities that adversely impact marginalized and under-resourced communities.

OPEN FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:

FY2023 Imperial Valley Mission Support – Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation (IVWF) aims to make the Imperial Valley A Better Place to Live for All. We recognize the importance and value of focusing on the quality of life for the residents of the Imperial County and want to support the work that many organizations are doing to address health and wellness, and community engagement in disinvested communities and especially with populations and groups that have been historically excluded from planning and decision-making. In addition, we value the importance of the nonprofits that lead this work and are committed to supporting them in building capacity to carry out their work and mission.

We will be awarding one-year Mission Support grants ranging from $5,000-$25,000. The Fund total this year is $200k.

Opens in Summer 2023

Alliance Healthcare Foundation Responsive Funding—based on the belief that it is important to be responsive to time-sensitive community needs and opportunities. Alliance provides responsive funding up to $25,000. Responsive funding requests may be submitted at any time.

Background
The 2022 Innovation Initiative (i2) is a challenge grant taking place over the course of 12-months to identify, build, and scale innovative, transformative, and sustainable solutions with the potential to solve our most intractable health challenges. AHF is seeking sustainable market-based innovations and system-change solutions that can improve access, quality, and health outcomes for systematically marginalized and under-resourced residents in our region.
One of the most efficient ways we can support population health improvement is by helping innovations succeed, scale, and achieve sustainability.
Your zip code, race, socioeconomic status, gender, or ability should not determine your life expectancy. We are seeking sustainable market-based innovations and/or systems-change transformations aimed at closing gaps in health and wellbeing, which have been dramatically exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On December 14, 2022, five finalists will make their final pitch before an audience of AHF board members, committee members, Resident Leaders, AHF staff, Nex Cubed team and i2 mentors.

Philosophy:  Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF) aims to be a partner that is responsive to the emergent needs of our community. We understand that unexpected events occur and thus prioritize supporting organizations that meet the criteria outlined below.
Criteria:  Responsive grant requests range up to $25,000 and must be all of the following:

  • be time sensitive
  • respond to a one time, unexpected circumstance*

*Please note that Responsive Grants are not intended to support general operating costs or sponsorships.

Being a previous AHF grantee does not preclude an organization from applying for our 2022-2023 (FY223) Responsive Grant.  To qualify for AHF"s Responsive Grant support, your organization must meet these criteria:

  • Be a 501(c)(3) or have a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, and
  • Serve regions in San Diego County and/or Imperial County, and
  • Be aligned with AHF’s mission of advancing health and wellness for the most vulnerable in San Diego County and/or Imperial County, who often experience inequities and injustices in health and social outcomes.

Funding is provided throughout the year until funds are expended.  Typically, we fund one request per organization per year; if your organization has already received a Responsive Grant this fiscal year and has another request, please contact Min Kim.

Should you have any questions, please contact Program Officer, Min Kim via email min.kim@alliancehf.org.
